We could help save the lives of children in crisis by giving medical staff direct access to a global network of Paediatric Specialists ready to assist remotely.
Many children's lives are lost due to the lack of paediatric expertise in resource constrained areas.
Millions of children are physically affected by war, infectious diseases and natural disasters
The problem is…
In times of crisis, access to paediatric expertise is limited and in many cases this leads to suboptimal treatment
As a result…
Quality of life is reduced and thousands of children die every year due to the lack of speed and quality of care
Save a Child was founded by renowned humanitarian Sally Becker who has been helping to save the lives of children in areas of conflict since 1993. Sally's work has been well documented, especially during the war in Bosnia where she drove an ambulance across front lines to rescue injured children from besieged hospitals. Amidst the carnage and the chaos, she managed to negotiate ceasefires in areas where others had failed, saving hundreds of lives and earning the nickname 'Angel of Mostar'.
Sally has continued to help children in conflict zones around the world and during a mission to Northern Iraq in 2017, she enlisted the help of a team of Paediatric Specialists to assist with diagnoses and treatment of children through remote consultations. The proof of concept has shown its impact potential with many patients benefiting from improved treatment and we are seeking to scale the program to the hundreds of resource constrained areas where it could make a difference.
We are collaborating with LEO Innovation Lab who are assisting with the development of the digital platform by donating know-how within telemedicine.
The Save a Child App will provide direct access to paediatricians and paediatric specialists ready
to assist remotely.
